The Care Quality Commission (CQC) is the Government’s independent regulator of all health and social care services in England. Their role is to register health and social care providers and to inspect whether or not standards are being met.

They then rate each service as either Inadequate, Requires Improvement, Good or Outstanding based on five core criteria, which are;

  • Safe
  • Effective
  • Caring
  • Responsive
  • Well-lead

Banbury Lodge was inspected under this new rating structure in December 2022 and they have been rated as GOOD overall.

According to the CQC, Banbury Lodge achieved this rating because “Staff took a truly holistic approach to assessing, planning and delivering care and treatment to people who used the service” and that “Clients felt empowered in their treatment.” The report also confirms that the Banbury Lodge staff treated clients with warmth and respect, showing compassion and understanding for the impact of their substance misuse.

“Staff showed a high degree of sensitivity to clients’ emotional and spiritual needs, especially the impact of trauma and its role in addictive behaviour.” (Care Quality Commission)
